Smashing Pumpkins Debut Cover Of James Taylor's 'Fire And Rain': Watch

Smashing Pumpkins kicked off their co-headlining tour with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds last week, and while they pulled out the hits like "1979" and "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," Billy Corgan and company also had a few surprises up their sleeves for this North American trek. Not only did the band play the Machina/The Machines of God deep cut “Blue Skies Bring Tears” for the first time since 2007, they also debuted a cover of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain."

Like they did with Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," Smashing Pumpkins made the song all their own, performing a dreamy, jammed-out version of the classic '70s ballad. A fan caught it all on video. Watch the footage below.
