Despite 'Employee Shortage,' Man Applies to 60 Jobs and Gets 1 Interview

Who says there's a shortage of workers in the United States? One Florida man claims he's applied to 60 entry-level jobs in the past few months -- and he's been called for just one interview.

Joey Holz says he first heard of the labor shortage last year when he was donating plasma at clinic in Fort Meyers. "The guy went on this rant about how he can't find help and he can't keep anybody in his medical facility because they all quit over the stimulus checks," Holz says. "And I'm like, 'Your medical professionals quit over $1,200 checks? That's weird.'"

After hearing several other complaints about a lack of workers, Holz decided to conduct an experiment: he sent out applications to 60 employers, all offering entry-level, minimum wage jobs. The only interview to come out of it was with a construction company that was offering $8.65 an hour to start. "Fifty-eight applications says y'all aren't desperate for workers, you just miss your slaves," Holz says.
